Women's Writing Series Going Global on YouTube!

Greetings, Friends!

I am very happy to report that the Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series will now become a world-wide YouTube platform, instead of the Philadelphia, PA, USA-based in-persun literary event series it has been off and in since its inception in 2002.

The Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series is, and always has been "a nurturing environment that celebrates women in the craft of multi-genre writing".
The Series used to feature 2 uniquely different writers, who spoke/read/performed for 20 minutes each, and answered questions about their writing. Then we had an all-gender open mic.
We've done these at Robin's Bookstore, Moonstone Arts Center, and most recently (until November 2015, Big Blue Marble Bookstore.
Recently I (founder/director Cassendre Xavier), realized the Series didn't have to be limited by occurring at physical locations. It could be a video format, and happen from anywhere in the world, anytime.
Using the YouTube format, it's totally free, and many people have cell phones with video capability anyway.
Two things bolster my confidence about attempting this:

One: If you internet search the Series, you'll see it has garnered interest over the years, and been promoted on websites that aren't related to us. People are interested in it.
Two: If you search the Series on YouTube, you'll see many videos we recorded of the event. This proves YouTube is a great venue for us.

So, after having done my research on bringing the Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series to YouTube, and receiving responses to our Call for Submissions from women writers from anywhere YouTube is available, here now are the logistics of what's required moving forward.

NEW FORMAT FOR THE WOMEN'S WRITING & SPOKEN WORD SERIES: YouTube format, free, open to selected women writers from around the world, who have the ability to upload to YouTube, and who have saleable written publications of their own.

PROJECTED LAUNCH DATE: August 1, 2016

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

The Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series is a non-religious and LGBTQIAP (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersexed, asexual, polyamorous) - friendly community-based project. It is and has always been "a nurturing environment that celebrates women in the craft of multi-genre writing".
Although we are very tolerant of many different styles of writing, and have never prized literary "accomplishment", instead favoring creative expression and productivity, we do have a screening process and cannot accept every application we receive. We appreciate and thank you in advance for your understanding.
By "multi-genre" we mean you may be a writer of more than one - and needn't identify as, for example, a "poet" or a "nonfiction writer". Also, you needn't be a multi-genre writer yourself.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

BE FEMALE: You must identify as a female gendered persun.

HAVE PRODUCT: You must have saleable writing products, this means your writing must be available for sale somewhere, off or online. This could be one or more publication such as a chapbook/pamphlet, self-published book, book published by someone else, a periodical/zine/magazine, audiobook, an album/CD/download of your spoken word/poetry/guided meditation, or the like. It could also be a video recording of your writing being read or otherwise performed, either by yourself or by someone else.

OWN OR HAVE ACCESS TO VIDEO RECORDING EQUIPMENT: You must have either a smartphone with video recording capacity or a video camera, or know someone who can record you.

HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET: You must either have internet service on your phone or computer, or have access to web service. You must create your own YouTube channel. This is free of charge and easy for most to do or learn. Your YouTube channel needn't be all about your writing, but it will be where your Women's Writing Series video will be uploaded. And you (or someone you know) will be uploading your video.

If you meet all of the above requirements, prepare:

A 200 maximum word bio about your writing, including your saleable product, and public contact links and/or email address.

A high resolution pic of yourself (ideally fairly close-up image of your face), as a promotional picture.

Then, email the bio and pic to: WomensWritingSeries (at) yahoo dot com.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee to process each application. Method of payment is a U.S. Postal Service or other type of money order mailed and payable to: Cassendre Xavier, c/o Bindlestiff Books, 4530 Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143-3705 USA. (Other methods of payment are available to those applying from outside of the domestic USA or who inquire with other payment method concerns or requests. And if there is financial hardship, the fee can be waived.)
