More about National Day of Hope:
During National Child Abuse Prevention Month (April), this day asks all Americans to keep victims of abuse and neglect in their thoughts and prayers, to seek to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect and to give victimized children hope for the future. This is also a day when the faith community, nonprofit organizations and volunteers across America should recommit themselves and mobilize their resources to assist abused and neglected children.--

April Move Fundraiser Update: $1,323 Raised!

Dear Friends,

I just wanted to report an update on my GoFundMe <http://www.gofundme.com/pbca1w> Fundraiser to move in Philadelphia in April!

First: I'm getting more and more happy and excited about my upcoming move! Some people dream of cruises, I dream of getting on disability, back into therapy, having the support to organize  my life so that it's stable for the next several years, not just a few months at a time!

Thank you for your continued support of my art/work, and therefore, life!

Now on to the update!

$1,323 of $2,000 Raised by 7 people in 10 days! Actually, it's that amount "in value", because a large chunk of it ($928) is the unsold value of books I have in my Amazon storefront <www.amazon.com/shops/fab_book_deals>, which I took from boxes of books marked "Free" and were being given away. Turns out that a few of these Italian foreign language books were indeed going for a pretty penny. However, none have sold and there's no telling that any will.
I included this in the "offline donations" listing on the GoFundMe campaign because it still counts as attracting abundance and value, even if I can't immediately apply it to my moving costs.
The other offline donations were a personal check and two public transportation gifts, all immediately usable and very much appreciated!
Another reason for posting all forms of gifts with a monetary value is because it brings the total donations closer to the goal so as to attract even more donations. I feel that folks are more likely to throw money into a pot that has a bunch of bills in it. That was what worked for me when I busked. I would never start a shift with a guitar case that only had CDs in it. I'd always throw in a few bucks first, to encourage passersby to add to them. And they always did :).

Actual cash/immediately usable currency received is: $386

$91 donations made through GoFundMe <http://www.gofundme.com/pbca1w> (Thank you Anonymous, Silvia A., and Rupert Wates!)
$50 personal check (Thank You, Ceil Adam!)
$54 SEPTA public transportation voucher (Thank you, Anonymous!)
$191 SEPTA April 2015 "Anywhere" Monthly TrailPass (Thank you, Anonymous!)

I have added REWARDS!

$200 - Prepaid House Concert (A popular (prepaid)  CX house concert includes 1 free CD, and a highly entertaining show of two (2) 45 minute sets for you and your guests! (References available. No sound system needed.)
$50 Any 3 CX titles, mailed to 1-3 different domestic USA address(es)! To make your choice(s), visit the Cassendre Xavier Music Gallery at cdbaby.com/all/cassEndrE
$25 - My new CD, mailed to you! (Just need your US postal mailing address.) Great Review from Philadelphia Weekly! tinyurl.com/PWReviewHope
$20 - 1 copy of The Whittenberg Sessions, Beautiful, Live at Cafe Improv, live at the kraftbrau, kalamazoo!, Live at Tin Angel, or Capable of Love, mailed to you!
$10 - Handwritten Thank You card. It's well known I'm big on Thank You Cards! Upon request and the receipt of your domestic USA mailing address, I'll mail one to you. And sometimes, I even use a purple pen!

I am very thankful to all of you and I'll write again soon!

OTHER WAYS TO DONATE:
1) PAYPAL SEND MONEY (as a "GIFT") TO: cxmusic(at)gmail(dot)com. Paypal is the best way to donate because 100% of it goes to me. So if  you click "Send Money" and then "Gift", there is no fee for you and no fee for me!
2) CHECK/MONEY ORDER PAYABLE TO: CASSENDRE XAVIER, and mail it c/o Bindlestiff Books, 4530 Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143-3705. Thanks for all your positive energy and well-wishes, everyone! I'll be living in Philadelphia by the end of April for sure! Thank you!! <3

New video! Hope: Find Me This Way

Please enjoy the studio recorded version of my song "Hope: Find Me This Way" as appears on the same-titled 2015 release. https://youtu.be/LlOsyzPzirE

Recorded on March 23, 2015 - Sorry the sound quality of this video isn't that good. You can hear the song or order the download or CD at http://cdbaby.com/all/cassendre or http://cassendrexavier.bandcamp.com
Artist website: www.cassendrexavier.com

LYRICS
Hope (Find Me This Way) (C. Xavier) 3:01 Should you find yourself wandering/Through the woods wild one day/If you've lost your direction/You will find Me this way/If a lover should leave you/And your plans thrown astray/With you you're never lonely/Turn and find Me this way/If somebody should hurt you/Leave you far from okay/And you need self-forgiveness/You will find Me this way/If you're ever abandoned/And there's no one at your side/Just look over your shoulder/And you'll find Me this way/[Vocalization]

New video! Please Help [me] Move in April!

Hi, folks!
I made a video this morning
[https://youtu.be/ifNKRANOWKo] to talk a little more about my predicament. I am certain the main reason the donations have been so low is because GoFundMe has changed its features so that you can't just click once and include all of your email contacts anymore... You have to include all of your contacts one at a time...aargh! So only a fraction of you are seeing this...
I'm working to resolve this issue, but for now I'm reaching out to you again and to my trusty YouTube subscribers. Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Cassendre

Video description:
Recorded on March 23, 2015 - Hi folks :) This is a heartfelt plea for support to find a place to live and move in Philadelphia in 30 days. I am struggling with bipolar depression, grieving the death of a partner, and the chronic unemployment that comes with a situation like this, if left, as it has in the past few months, untreated, due to my location and inability to travel (I don't drive) to my therapist, etc.
Being back in Philadelphia will allow me to resume treatment and gain assistance to remain employed, while pursuing my creativity in addition to taking care of myself.
If you're not familiar with my work, I've been a multi-media artist in Philadelphia since 1991, have nationally published multi-genre writing, several community cultural arts initiatives including the Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series (Est. 2002) http://WomensWritingSeries.org, and the Black Women's Arts Festival (Est. 2003) http://BWAFphilly.org.
I've also released 8 albums of original music at http://cdbaby.com/all/cassEndrE and 2 spoken word guided meditations called "Affirmations for Survivors: Self-Love" and "Affirmations for Survivors: Spirituality".
I also do workshops, classes, host events, and write poetry and blogs on raw vegan foods, relationships, and sexuality.

Video: Shines So Bright

Dear Friends,

I have very strong musical convictions. For ex. I must always wear #lingerie while singing #sacred songs! Here's "Shines So Bright" https://youtu.be/E4bCeHB-T5A

Recorded on September 11, 2010. Singer-songwriter Cassendre Xavier performs her song "Shines So Bright (I Am Thankful)", a sacred and spiritual song of gratitude and affirmation, in lingerie, of course. Visit www.cassEndrExavier.com. Lyrics:

Shines So Bright (I Am Thankful)
Words & music by Cassendre Xavier

I am thankful for
My abundant life
How it shines so bright
I am thankful

I appreciate
All the joy I feel
From morn until night
How my life feels right

I am grateful for
Friends and family
Whom I treasure so
Who accept all of me

I give love to you
You are part of me
We are one not two
We are humans, being

How I treasure so
My abundant health
I am beautiful
And I know I'm well

I enjoy having
A career I love
Using work to serve
With gifts from above

I am giving praise
For the resources
I have used to build
My abundant wealth

I can recognize
All that I can do
To be all I am
And to live my truth

I am thankful for
My abundant life
How it shines so bright
I am thankful

Help Me Move by April 30 (+1 video from "Hope" Release Concert!)

(Optional: Read the below message, and watch the video here:  http://www.gofundme.com/pbca1w)

====================

Hi, folks!
Dear Friends,

I have been waiting until I had "more time" to post this, but I'd better stop waiting and post NOW! :)
In short, I am raising funds to move to my own place in Philadelphia by the end of the month of April 2015.
I am very excited and I thank those of you who have funded my personal and professional efforts in the past, including moving after my partner Tom's passing, moving after the women's collective household effort in Philly, and finishing my CD "Hope" (which is available to listen, or order in download and disc format at CD Baby http://cdbaby.com/all/cassendre and
http://cassendrexavier.bandcamp.com).

Good review!!

"A gorgeously minimalist showcase for Xavier's throaty Tracy-Chapman-via-Dar-Williams sincerity,Hope assembles catchy, original acoustic ballads, like the sweetly spiritual "Forever Home" and the plaintive title track, "Hope (Find Me This Way)" alongside a surprisingly eclectic roster of well-conceived covers. None of us may have been looking for the raw emotional truth hidden inside J.Lo's pre-fab plastic single "If You Had My Love," but somehow Xavier finds it and redeems it; likewise, her mellow retrofit of Green Day's "When I Come Around" into folksinger idiom is oddly comfortable. The high point is her transcendent rendition of Dylan's "Boots of Spanish Leather"—a song about the slow fadeout of an expired romance, but Xavier's take is upbeat and life-affirming, reminding us that goodbyes need not be tragic when they can honor and celebrate the beauty that's come before while looking with hope and faith toward the horizon." --Stephen Segal, music critic, Philadelphia Weekly, February 11, 2015

I will be posting updates very soon but in the meantime, please do support in whatever way(s) you can.
Meanwhile, I am doing what I can on my end (heh-heh!).
Thank you so much in advance for your continued support of my art/work, and therefore, life!

"Since 1991, I have shared my life as a multi-media artist who also deals with the beautiful challenges of mental health illness, recovery from abuse and addiction, as well as how to remain creative in the face of these and economic challenges. I also celebrate the joy of living as a spiritual and sexual being "" all through the arts. I am very grateful for my patronesses and patrons over the years, and for the way technology has grown to so support the arts. More artists are receiving funding now than ever before, and much more than the conventional granting sources of the past.
When I asked you, my fans, supporters, readers, audience, friends, lovers, family, and strangers who dig what I do, to help me when my partner died and I needed to move suddenly, you came running to help, and I thanked you. When I announced a Megabus Tour and set off for the first stop of Michigan, you were there. When I announced my plans to produce the next Black Women's Arts Festival in the SanFrancisco/Bay Area of California USA, you cheered your support!
As I now continue the task of preparing to leave the east coast, I ask for your patience and attention to my news and progress.
Any donations coming in at this time will assist me in creating saleable product that will create income for me to raise needed funds to not only move out of the Philadelphia area, but attain gainful employment or other funds to sustain myself in the city where the next BWAF will be produced.
I really appreciate your ongoing donations, care packages, postal letters, emails, well-wishes, positive visualizations, and prayers.
Thank you for your continued support of my art/work, and therefore, life."
