All-People's Open Mic&Allies Vending at BWAF This Weekend!

Dear Friends!

Below is a message I sent earlier to confirmed and potential participnts in the Black Women's Arts Festival...
Much of it useful for "civilians" as well. Enjoy!

Hello and blessings, everyone!

I am thrilled about this coming weekend's 9th Black Women's Arts Festival!
It'll be Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th
10am - 10pm
FREE and open to the public.
The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 www.TheRotunda.org 

All respectful persuns are welcome to attend.

We have several features and vendors booked, with space in the program for more.
There will be Walk-On All People's Open Mics on both days to help fill in the spaces.

NEW! There's a new status update regarding who can vend at BWAF: "Allies". Anyone this year. Male, non-black, etc. So if you have a skill or product to sell, please bring it and yourself, regardless of whether you have a "sista" to go with you!

REQUESTS TO CONFIRMED OR POTENTIAL PARTICIPANTS AND VENDORS:

1) Please reply with your email address and mobile/text number.
2) Please make paper and/or email/online fliers of YOUR confirmed OR possible participation on the event. Simply say: Dear Friends/ Hey folks/fam, etc... However you greet your people :)

"I'll be participating at the 9th Black Women's Arts Festival this weekend!"
List the details of your participation, ESPECIALLY DAY, DATE AND TIME, and that it's FREE.
Then list the venue's name and address, and URL www.BWAFphilly.org
Some servers at some places don't allow access to Facebook, and this is important, because our URL goes right to our Facebook fan page.. so please include the secondary link of www.cassEndrExavier.com which will take folks to my blog which is always updated with the latest.

Your flier can be as brief and simple or as detailed as you want it to be but please do circulate it as you are able before this coming Saturday.

I've inluded a jpeg of 2 workshops, Tracey Coretta Ferdinand MA's flier of her "Yoga & Creative Writing", and  which I am so excited about - in addition to the other programming!

3) Please forward to anyone you know the following needs for this weekend and how to respond to them:

a) WANTED: MORE FILMS. To apply: Go to the event between 10am and 6pm on Sasturday, and/or 10am-7pm on Sunday with films in the following formats ONLY: DVD, Blueray, or bring a laptop. NO streaming is available at the venue. If you'd like advance promotion of the POSSIBILITY of your film/s being shown, please email me at cxmusic(at)gmail(dot)com OR Facebook message me here. Again, your film's presentation is NOT guaranteed - just possible, and at the very least we can offer some visibility and promotion beforehand. No other contact please, thank you.

b) WANTED: PRAISE DANCERS. To apply: To apply: Go to the event between 10am and 6pm on Sasturday, and/or 10am-7pm on Sunday with a dance program no longer than 10 minutes ready. It's best to appear at least 30 minutes before you'd like to go on. If you'd like advance promotion of the POSSIBILITY of your praise dance being presented, please email me at cxmusic(at)gmail(dot)com OR Facebook message me here. Again, your presentation is NOT guaranteed - just possible, and at the very least we can offer some visibility and promotion beforehand. No other contact please, thank you.

c) WANTED: COMEDY OR DRAMA. To apply: To apply: Go to the event between 10am and 6pm on Sasturday, and/or 10am-7pm on Sunday with a comedy or drama presentatio no longer than 20 minutes ready. It's best to appear at least 30 minutes before you'd like to go on. If you'd like advance promotion of the POSSIBILITY of your comedy or drama being presented, please email me at cxmusic(at)gmail(dot)com OR Facebook message me here. Again, your presentation is NOT guaranteed - just possible, and at the very least we can offer some visibility and promotion beforehand. No other contact please, thank you.

d) WANTED: MORE VENDORS - especially folks/teens who make DUCT TAPE WALLETS, ORGANIC OR RECYCLED MOON (aka maxi) PADS. To apply: To apply: Go to the event between 10am and 6pm on Sasturday, and/or 10am-7pm on Sunday with merchandise AND YOUR OWN SMALL TABLE. The vending registration fee is: Free will donation in cash given to, or check made PAYABLE TO: CASSENDRE XAVIER. NO FOOD VENDORS, PLEASE. (We already have one food vendor, Atiya Ola of Atiya Ola's Spirit First Foods, who requested she be one of only two food vendors. I am looking to book Heru to sell juices, and/or Karimu who makes vegan wraps. But I cannot open the floor to walk-in food vendors, sorry.) STAGE TIMES FOR ALL PEOPLE'S OPEN MIC:

All-People's Open Mic: 5 min.
Literary/Poetry Reading/Spoken Word: 10 min.
Music (except for those already scheduled): 2 songs/10 min.
Dance: 10 min.
Lecture: 20 min. + 10 min. Q& A (30 min. total)
Workshop: 45 min. OR 1.5hrs, depending on what's available on which day.
Film: up to 30-45 min., depending on availability.
