The Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series presents JOSEPHINE CURRY!
6pm - Free, open to the public, and includes Mixed-Gender Open Mic!

Big Blue Marble Bookstore, 551 Carpenter Lane Philadelphia, PA 19119

Josephine Curry is a short story writer and novelist. Her work largely revolves around the inexplicable and bizarre- acidic blobs go out for champagne brunches and apartment dwellers deal with a sudden influx of snakes. She works outside of the bounds of realism to explore how humans react and adapt when their reality breaks down. Josephine studied Clinical Psychology at a small liberal arts college. Her work has been been published in the zines Ovoid and Pariah, and she was a contributing fiction editor to the artist collective Yung Weirdos. She enjoys contributing to the writing community in any way she can; participating in several workshops and teaching a fiction course through the Mighty Writers Organization. She lives in West Philadelphia with a cat, a fish and a preserved squid. She can be found writing about snails and retweeting Martha Stewart at @josephinecreepy.

The Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series (est. 2002) is a nurturing environment that celebrates women in the craft of multi-genre writing. It was founded, and is curated and hosted by Leeway Transformation Award-Winning community cultural artist and organizer Cassendre Xavier. (Previous curators include Sherella Gibbs and Louise Bierig). The Series is free and includes mixed-gender open mic and Q&A with featured readers.
