VIDEO DESCRIPTION & LYRICS:
One Lucky Girl - from Cassendre's album "Live at the Kraftbrau, Kalamazoo".

music and lyrics by Cassendre Xavier

There is a sadness that comes
From having lived
through all the trials of life
and having given
joy in the ways that we can
in the ways that we're able
to ignore all the rules of the man
and to eat from the table of life

Sometimes I think about how
much I've survived
then I remember the rest avecs in my country
they have nowhere to turn
They have nothing to learn but pain

But I was lucky enough
To have been born here
I had two parent who did
The best that they could
And I had something to learn
I had somewhere to turn from pain

I am one lucky girl
I'm from two worlds
Made me a pearl

Yeah I'm one lucky girl
With love in both worlds
And I'm a pearl

So now they tell me I'm good
I play the guitar
They tell me I've got a sweet voice
And that I will go far
But I know who my dearest friends are
They were there from the start
Before I ever touched a guitar
They knew my nickname and heart

It doesn't matter that I
play the guitar
As long as I know that I'm loved
For just being me
With nothing in my hands
And with no master plan, just me

Someday I'll visit again
Where all of this started
with vodun and Noel the man
Who flows through my fingers
Bein' in the graces of God
Tasting the rice and the codfish stews

Mangoes and coconut milk
For three gourds a day
Millions of suffering faces
Have not gone away
And my own american mind
Cannot seem to solve this

I am one lucky girl
I'm from two worlds
Made me a pearl

Yeah I'm one lucky girl
With love in both worlds
And I'm a pearl

Angels & Law of Attraction: Feeling Better Transforms Situations

When has worrying about something ever actually helped you?

Instead of worrying, try turning it over to the angels and asking them to help you feel better about it.

When you ask the angels to help you feel better about a situation, you'll receive that AND simple divine guidance!

Sometimes when you ask the angels to help you feel better about a situation, relief comes only after you've taken their advice.

Yesterday I asked the angels to help me feel better about a badly run therapy group. I was so upset my stomach hurt. The angels showed me how the unprofessional facilitator was trying, seeking, and needing approval. I did and suddenly felt a great deal of compassion. The angels then told me to participate. As usual, it was a very firm yet gentle direction. I somewhat reluctantly did and almost immediately the situation began to transform itself! Other participants seemed to feel more heartened, the facilitator even improved a bit, the vibe became much more positive, things flowed more smoothly, and I felt soooo much better during, and especially after the session! Thank you angels! <3

Soulmate Attraction: Celebrate Sweetness!

No matter your circumstances, you can always increase the sweetness in your life. Surround yourself with images, even fragrances, that remind you of when you've had romance, companionship, and excitement with a partner.
I just lit a stick of my favorite incense, and took a whiff of a clove cigarette. The incense brought me back to my happiest times with my late partner, and the clove was a recent meeting of a gentlemen, who smoked one as we spoke. I didn't want to smoke it with him, but did ask for one, to enjoy the moment and the fragrance later.
When you surround yourself with little reminders of sweetness and romance, it puts you more in the headspace and heartspace of attracting it. It makes you happy and feel good, and that makes you most attractive!

Addicted to Judge Judy!

Dear Baby Jesus, Please help me do more work than watch The Judge Judies. Thank you.

Goddess Sundays: Power of Goddess Journaling

Do not wait to find the perfect books to teach you about the Goddess. Much of Goddess' wisdom was created before there were books, but was passed through the ages, heart to knowing and feeling heart. You may access this wisdom by beginning a "goddess journal." Either a Goddess Journal by itself or incorporating some Goddess writing in your general all-purpose daily journal or diary will be sufficient. Begin to use this, and Her secrets will be revealed to you. Woman, man (or other), this truth is available to all who seek Her.

Goddess Sundays: The Goddess & Acceptance

The Goddess is all about acceptance. We see this in childbirth and childcare, for example.  No matter how painful, wimmin and other female creatures (besides the greatly troubled ones), accept their lot, and breathe through it all to birth and care for their creations. If we need to take three jobs to support our children or other creative projects, without the aid of male support, we will and we do it with much beauty, grace, and above all, acceptance.
So, if you are seeking to be more accepting of certain aspects of your life, call upon the  Goddess who will show you how. Woman, man (or other), this truth is available to all who seek Her.

The Power of Less (Never Live Without a Deadline Again)

Transforming your life is equal parts what you take out of your daily, weekly, and monthly schedule as what you put in. So, when you're making your To Do List, also include notices to individuals and organizations that you are no longer going to be doing what you were doing. Your much improved life is awaiting these changes, and unloading what isn't serving your Divine life purpose can be exhilarating!

My Yoga Class Cancelled Tonight for Holiday!

Hello, Dear Friends!

I just received clearance to cancel my "Empowering Affirmations Yoga" class tonight. I'm feeling cold and sad because of tomorrow's holiday, and I also didn't want to go and wait to a possibly empty room due to the folks being out of town. But I didn't want to cancel if other Ahimsa House yoga teachers were still teaching today...
So I asked and learned that "folks are canceling classes as they wish for the holidays and we're not asking for substituting teachers because so many folks are out of town". So, whoo-hoo!!!
Not that I don't absolutely LOVE my "Empowering Affirmations Yoga" class, mind you, but I just would prefer not to go out into the cold tonight, and stay in and write (I just submitted my Wisdom Magazine December submission by the way, whoo-hoo!).

All for now and next time my yoga class meets is Wednesday, December 9th, 7:30pm-8:45pm, at Ahimsa House in West Philadelphia http://AhimsaHousePhilly.org.

Hope to see you (or feel your positive vibeage comin' our way) there!

In healing and community,

Cassendre

Collards Washed in Tub & Iced Tea Horror Story

Someone posted this image on Facebook of collard greens being washed in somebody's bathtub, with the caption "No, thanks, I'm good."

There were plenty of comments, mostly people saying that's why they don't eat at strangers' homes (recalling the Seinfeld episode in which Kramer washes his dishes in the shower). Some did say they grew up on the South or with lots of siblings and saw greens being washed in the tub, having shared often in this task themselves.
They said their grandma would just clean the tub really well. I can attest to this, as I know my grandmothers were very clean, too.

I added to this thread, the following experience from years back:

Here's a story for ya. One time I went to a new friend's friend's house for dinner. Me, her, her female friend and that female friend's husband. We sat at the table and ate food that was there - plates, silverware - everything looked normal. Then, the female host went to the fridge and brought out a translucent white pitcher of amber liquid that appeared to be iced tea. She brought it to the table and we proceeded to pour it. It was indeed iced tea - sweetened.
We ate and had occasionally strange conversation in which the host likened herself to Christ, mentioning having honey and milk in her mouth...etc. My new friend confirmed that she was indeed implying that she was the Messiah. You know, the usual!?
After our meal, that female host then stood, went to get the iced tea pitcher and one by one, emptied the contents of our iced tea glasses back into that pitcher, and then returned that pitcher to the refrigerator.
Now, knowing that I may have drunk the backwash of any number of strangers, I was convinced that was the horror story of the year.
(You're welcome!)

Messages from the Angels: My Bipolar & Creative Focus

Dear Friends,

I journal daily, including writing to my angels for divine guidance, angelic healing and emotional support. This time, I asked them about this feeling I'd been getting to write a new series of articles based on my yoga class. I thought it would be wise to ask them whether I should or not, instead of just bounding ahead with it. Being homeless after ignoring my bipolar disorder for over a decade, it's a lot easier these days to remember the damage that can come from my just starting projects that are unfounded or not connected to what I am really hear for, which, actually, isn't always clear to me, believe it or not. Thanks, Bipolar Disorder!

19 November 2015 - Thursday evening at 9:45pm

Dear Angels,

Should I write an "Empowering Affirmations Yoga" series as part of my Wisdom Magazine column?

Answer:

Yes, if it serves your highest vision at this time. We ask you to recall your dreamiest childhood and adolescent fantasies of playing and singing music under the lights onstage, of acting in films, and in television, of always having lights on you, of meeting exciting new friends and lovers through your successful music and acting careers.

These are your lifelong dreams - your truest and strongest talents and magnetisms are there. Yes, you are a very good writer. Yes you are a healer. Yes, you have served and inspired and motivated others through your writing. Yes, writing also heals you.

Remember that musicians and actors who also write became successful at their primary crafts first: Jill Scott, Jewel, Russell Brand, Bob Geldof.

You must do all you can to remain focused on and successful in your primary crafts of music and acting as well.

If along the way you discover that writing is higher than acting, we will help you make the transition. Now, though, we will help you focus on your primary gift of music, support you in taking steps to engage in acting, and help you gently decrease and writing activities that don't fully qualify as supporting your primary goals of music and acting.

Cassendre: But I feel that I'm much more of a writer than an actress.

Answer: We love you and gently ask: How do you know?

You've done so little acting. And how do you know that doing more acting won't open up money-making and exposure opportunities that will allow you to do all three much more easily, joyfully, and efficiently?

We love you and again urge you to work with us to help you focus more upon your music first, and your acting second. We love you and we implore you to try.

Remember that as a persun with Bipolar Disorder it can be very hard for you to sit still long enough to do the right things and take the right steps in pursuing your goals as they involve fulfilling your Divine life purpose.

We are here because we love you and are very eager and equipped to support you in doing what you need to do so.

You need:

  1. Bipolar medication

  2. Regular psychotherapy

  3. Yoga

  4. Other exercise

  5. Healthy foods

You also need:

  1. Friendship

  2. Daily journaling of your feelings

  3. Daily writing to us

  4. Meditation in any forms and amounts

We are here because we love you and we are equipped to support you in fulfilling your Divine life purpose.

May you say well and know you are loved until we speak again.

Angel,

~Love Angels

Messages from the Angels: Angel of Love

To you Beloveds who are seeking:

We love you so much. We are all One and being that love is most important of all we are called Angel, singular.

As angels of love we are one here and there to hold you up when you feel most afraid and most despondent. There is no we who are not with you in these times of great pain and discomfort for you. We do not even know how to be apart from you during these very difficult times.

We have been on earth since before earth existed. We have been with you since before you were conceived.

We fully understand your experience of life on the earth plane because we have chosen to be so close to you as to know this on a very deep and real level.

Come to us in your minds and you will feel our always there and never far presence.

When you call upon us it will be as if we were already there, and you simply remembered to beckon us.

In truth you will simply be reminding yourself of our existence near and in fact within you.

We are here and we love you. We are here to remind you that you are truly very and deeply loved. Accept our love and glow on your merry way.

Until we meet again in your thoughts and in your heart...

Put Turmeric in Your Orange Juice!

I just discovered that the strong taste of orange juice is a perfect mask for the strong taste of turmeric. I am in love with turmeric these days - can't get enough of it. I put it in my nonfat vanilla yogurt, I put it in water with apple cider vinegar, and cayenne pepper as a tonic. I put it in my salads, I even sprinkle it on a big bowl of mangoes - I just love, love, LOVE the stuff!

Here is my recipe for the Turmeric-Infused OJ I just enjoyed!

12 oz. filtered or spring water
20 oz orange juice (store-bought, but NOT from concentrate, although concentrate's just fine if you're into that stuff!)
3/4 teaspoon turmeric

Shake and enjoy the sweet country goodness!
