Come Out & You'll Be More Attractive

Want to be more beautiful or attractive? Come out of whatever closet you're in. That means coming out of shyness, or not living your dreams, or anything else you're hiding or ashamed of. Or, you can keep those things, and just decide to release the shame. Be more yourself, be more confident, and I guarantee you'll also be more beautiful. Try it!

BIO: Cassendre Xavier's first discovery and attempt at raw vegan eating began in the late 1990s when she read an article by Storm Talifero about Demi Moore's primarily raw diet. Then, in 2005, Cassendre's raw journey began in earnest with more resources such as David Wolfe's book Eating for Beauty and Angela Stokes-Monarch's work on the emotions of eating with significant weight loss with raw foods. Cassendre decided to become a raw food leader in order to strengthen her own raw vegan lifestyle as well as to reach out to others who may be dealing with similar issues (abusive childhood past, mental illness, and lifelong eating disorder) that affect the ability to maintain this lifestyle. She has worked at Arnold's Way Raw Vegetarian Cafe and Education Center in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, is the co-founder of the REAL Raw support group at Essene Market and Cafe, and the author of Expanding Your Capacity for Joy: A Raw Vegan Comfort Book, Sourcebook and Journal (also an ebook).

Rampage of Appreciation - Savoring Manifestations

Frequently stop and notice what you've attracted or created that you've wanted, and enjoy the happy feeling of having them. For instance, I was just really enjoying vanilla yogurt that I wanted, at a bookstore job that I wanted, and I have a weekly "Anywhere" SEPTA TransPass (STP) that I wanted, and this weekend I shall have a monthly "Anywhere" STP that I also wanted! Appreciation is one step above gratitude, and it attracts more good stuff muy quick-o!

    One Lucky Girl Writing...

I'm enjoying this day, working at the bookstore, enjoying the cat and the books and the booklovin' customers. It's so great for me to be around people in this way, as I virtually live in a cave these days! Highlights so far are helping someone find Steve Lopez's 3rd & Indiana and Walden by Henry David Thoreau. I was proud of myself for knowing the the author of the former and the locations of the latter. Nerd!
Looking forward to going grocery shopping tonight for my host family, and finding time to write my Diary of a renaissance negresse on a computer and on a regular basis. Ever since I was a youthlette, I yearned to write about my life as Anais Nin and Maya Angelou did. So it's time to dedicate myself to that daily craft, even though today's model is not what it was for them in their day of publishing and technology. If I want to write about my life, then I need to make time to write about my life and do it NOW. :-)
Please enjoy my original song "One Lucky Girl" on YouTube:
http://youtu.be/B2ZPGTXEuGQ and available in CD at http:www.tinyurl.com/CXCDBaby (I believe it's temporarily out of stock, but a new shipment is on it's way today and will arrive and be processed soon after. Please put yourself on the list if you'd like one held gently and lovingly by the CD Baby angels for you!)
    VIDEO DESCRIPTION:

[Scroll down for lyrics] Singer-songwriter-guitarist Cassendre Xavier performs original song "Hope (Find Me This Way)" from her album "Live at the Kraftbrau, Kalamazoo". [If you hear harmony vocals or whistling, that's Cassendre adding to the video recording of the audio recording.] Visit www.cassendrexavier.com for music, show dates, and complete biographical info.

    Lyrics:

Should you find yourself wandering; Through the woods wild one day
If you've lost your direction; You will find me this way
If a lover should leave you; and your plans thrown astray
With you, you're never lonely;turn and find me this way
If somebody should hurt you; leave you far from okay
And you need self-forgiveness; you will find me this way

If your heart remains broken; when it heals who can say
If you're seeking compassion; you will find me this way
If you're ever abandoned; and there's no one at your side
When you're your own companion; you will find me this way
If you're working towards healing; it's up and down every day
Just look over your shoulder; and you'll find me this way

Sept 11 - Maleka Fruean & Phoenix Mystique at Big Blue Marble Bookstore!

Greetings, Friends and community arts members!

I’m thrilled to announce that the Women’s Writing & Spoken Word Series resumes in September at two Philadelphia locations.

The first occurs on September 11th at Big Blue Marble Bookstore in Mt. Airy. (551 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19119 Phone: 215-844-1870 Website: http://bigbluemarblebooks.com) and the two featured readers will be Maleka Fruean and Phoenix Mystique. Previously, I’ve enjoyed Maleka’s vibrant readings at the Series and other venues, and though I’ve heard Phoenix’s wonderful musical performances as a singer-songwriter, I haven’t heard her literary work yet, so that will be thrilling for me!

    Here are their official bios:

    ABOUT MALEKA FRUEAN

Maleka Fruean is an unfurling of motherhood, writing, and community. She's read in communal houses and venues all throughout Philadelphia and has had her poetry and flash fiction published in journals with cool names. This year she helped work on a midnight imagining, baked a blueberry pie from scratch, wrote a witchy folk song, and took place in an amazing writing workshop for women writers of color. She's currently working on a collection of short stories. For more about Maleka, please visit: http://malekafruean.com

    ABOUT PHOENIX MYSTIQUE

Phoenix Mystique is a wearer of many hats. She is a singer/songwriter/poet/mother/knitter/self-taught baker & cook – not necessarily in that order! She has been honing her performance skills for years and has performed at The Clef Club, October Gallery, The Art Sanctuary, 7165 Lounge, Sole II Sole Restaurant, Soulstock Music Festival and at various coffeehouse / lounge gatherings and community festivals. Phoenix is currently reemerging in the performance realm, after a hiatus to concentrate on the birth of her second daughter in February, and is now poising herself to reach new heights of artistic expression. Phoenix is also preparing to enter training to become a certified doula, as her other interests lie in women’s health & activism. So all in all she can sing you a song, bake you a cake, knit you a scarf, stir your soul with a poem and (soon) help you birth your baby…all while raising hers! STAY TUNED!!! For more about Phoenix, please visit www.facebook.com/thepmystique, www.soundcloud.com/thepmystique, and/or www.facebook.com/phoenixrisingearthknits.

Would you like to be a featured reader at a future Series event?

Since 2002 The Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series has been "a nurturing environment that celebrates women in the craft of multi-genre writing." Features have always been from diverse backgrounds, at all levels of accomplishment as writers, and readings have always been free, open to the public,  two (2) featured readers, at up to 20 minutes each, and included a Mixed-Gender Open Mic! Now regional, with multiple Philadelphia venues!
We are on 2nd Thursdays at Big Blue Marble Bookstore in Mt. Airy, and on 4th Mondays at the Walnut Street West branch of the Free Library of Philadephia in University City.

Right now we are seeking to book Sept 22 (4th Monday) at Walnut Street West Library. If you’d like to be a feature there, or at one of our future events/locations(s), please reply with:

    a)   200 word maximum bio about your writing (as formal or as casually-written as you wish). Please send this in the body of your message – no attachments please.

    b)   1 pic that clearly shows your face. (This can be an attachment or just pasted into the body of your message.)

    c)   At least 1 URL that can be distributed for public contact (website, Facebook, LinkedIn, blog, etc.).

You can email to womenswritingseries(at)yahoo.com, or cxwriting(at)gmail.com, message me or comment on my timeline at http://facebook.com/cassEndrExavier.

Thank you for your interest and keep on writing!

    CONTENTS OF TABLE

    A)  GREETING

Hello, Friends! Salutational devices to you! I am extremely grateful as usual to be able to address you here in this form, my free-form writing with no censorship, no limits. In the weeks that pass between writings, I am often thinking of you, my readers, my supporters, my audience. I appreciate all the attention my writing receives, even by the critics, of whom I’m well aware, because although I don’t wish to spend the time and focus that others sometimes do on their “haters”, I do think it bears mentioning for a few reasons. One: No one ever becomes significantly successful without a level of hatery, if you will. (As it were.) Two: It takes skill to process the experience of receiving negative attention – to transmute the energy for the greater good of all, to forgive, to appreciate the attention, because as we’ve learned in the entertainment industry, all attention is good attention. And Three: It helps to balance the scale of when I myself am feeling negative energy towards someone else, and it does happen, because I am humyn.

I’ve been feeling very joyous lately. I moved, I’m with loved ones, I’m in a safe, comfortable home, and I am well supported in building the next step and chapter of my life. I am resting after my move on July 26th, I start a new part-time job this week, and I am still looking for more gainful employment. In my 20s, I was just starting to learn the ropes as a musician and writer, and working at bookstores for a living. In my 30s I began working non-traditional side jobs while becoming a full-time professional musician and part-time freelance publishing author. And now, in my 40s, I am learning to be fully viable financially as a full-time multi-media artist, and the jobs I had in my 20s are no longer suitable for me now. I know this because my many attempts within the past year at being hired and employed successfully as a barista have failed.  I’ll be writing more about my journey to gainful employment and economic self-sufficiency as the renaissance negresse.

Meanwhile, please enjoy all this museletter contains, as it includes tools that have helped me greatly in the past few weeks. May they also assist you on your path of joyful self-actualization and inner peace!

    2)   NEW PUBLISHED WRITING

I’ve been writing a monthly column for Wisdom Magazine’s online edition since May 2009. My August 2014 contribution is “The Law of Attraction: 10 Ways to Raise Your Vibration During Challenging Times” http://wisdom-magazine.com/Article.aspx/3654/. In case you’re new to this email list you may have missed the previous one – July 2014 was “Sexual Healing with the Angels” at http://wisdom-magazine.com/Article.aspx/3645/. You can read all of my Wisdom Magazine article archives at http://tinyurl.com/CXWisdom.

    3)   RENAISSANCE NEGRESSE ART THERAPY: CXTV (OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL)

I have a YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/cassendrexavier or at http://tinyurl.com/CXYouTube. The link that takes you right to all of my videos is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/CassendreXavier/videos or http://bit.ly/1AMXJKU. In the past 3 weeks, I think I’ve added close to 40 new videos, as therapy for myself, and as a way to add more healing love love and light to the world. The posts are of me singing and playing guitar, or harmonizing vocals and whistling over previously recorded CX albums, as well as of my spoken word articles of spirituality, personal growth, or just talking as I try to figure stuff out. Many of these were recorded when I was going through a challenging time, and they brought me much peace just to record. Whereas posting my writing adds a significant amount to my pleasure as a writer, I get almost all of my joy from recording my YouTube videos, and everything else is extra. Every single view is gratifying, but just processing my thoughts and feelings, and creating positive writing to uplift my spirits and help me train my mind is a reward just in the doing.

Here are some highlights of these moments, and may they serve you somehow:

Sexual Healing with the Angels http://youtu.be/kwFYpwIjj_8?list=UU0D9-WzqCUOBTw6vb5Xj3vg or http://bit.ly/1zL60xC. (This is the companion to, and reading of my Wisdom Magazine article of the same title which you can read here: http://wisdom-magazine.com/Article.aspx/3645/. I posted this video first because it is the fastest growing in daily view counts, and brings me great satisfaction to be recognized as worthy to some.)

Raw Angel Diet – An Introduction http://youtu.be/zegi0nOfFX0?list=UU0D9-WzqCUOBTw6vb5Xj3vg or http://bit.ly/1AN0T19.

    Diary of a renaissance negresse – July 24, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeuYYBRGxzY&list=UU0D9-WzqCUOBTw6vb5Xj3vg

I was going to list many more, including my Law of Attraction posts, but then I remembered that last time I posted an email with many YouTube links, it seemed to weigh down the message too much for quick sending. I never even received a copy of that email, but it did appear in my Yahoo Group. So, I’ll leave off here and hope you visit my link of videos and view the many titles as they appeal to you! https://www.youtube.com/user/CassendreXavier/videos

    4)   RENAISSANCE NEGRESSE ART THERAPY: WRITING HEALS MUCHLY

This morning I was thinking, I really need to write a Me! Me! Me! I have some serious stuff to figure out. Lots has been going on and it’s been a while since I’ve tried to figure some stuff out in my writing, and a while since I’ve reached out to my readers in this way. I felt really good to have this system. When enough time has gone by, I feel a need to write, as medicine as well as my healing art, which I suppose are the same thing. I felt really grateful to my reading audience, because I couldn’t accomplish this alone. Journaling as a teen and adolescent was a life-saving act when it happened. And I certainly didn’t have an audience then. Writing is so healing that it works whether someone besides the reader is reading it or not. But I do know that things change over time, and while keeping paper books full of my feelings and only for my own eyes worked back then, typing on a computer keyboard or Smartphone when necessary, and then distributing my words on the internet is what I need now.

As I was thinking about my need to write a museletter to my readers, as medicine for myself (or for us all?) the realization that I didn’t have anything figured out (yet?) almost stopped me. I thought, “I don’t have anything figured out. I can’t write to them.” Then I realized, since when do I need to have everything figured out before I write and press send? Isn’t that the beauty of my life? Of any writer or artist’s life? I am so grateful for the craft of writing. It has saved me so many times, from age 12 or so until now, learning how to use writing as a craft has layers and layers of beauty and usefulness, whether keeping a journal of emotions that I had no other healthy outlet for, poetry to talk about experiences I had, and fiction which serves many needs, public and not so public.

As I began writing this, I realized something else, and that is all the forms of writing I learned and the uses they served throughout the years are still useful, and neither needs to be removed or replaced.

Before I wrote this piece, I’d thought I only needed my public writing, and that the journaling I did as an angst-filled teen and adolescent had no more place in my life because it felt like a tremendous a waste of time to write and have only my two eyes see it.

But as I wrote this piece, I realized I still do journal, to process my feelings, to realize my dreams, and to manifest my heart-based desires. There is still writing I do only for myself. And the majority of my fulfillment that comes from writing, while mostly stems from sharing, having others share my process by reading my words, is multi-fold. Writing fulfills me many ways, ways I discover more of as I continue to write and share what writing does for me. What you focus on grows, and this is focusing on writing. No wonder I feel additionally blessed. May you also be so blessed by the written word as it comes through your fingers and to the page or screen, be it for yourself alone or with others.

    Z)  FAREWELL BLESSING

May you receive all the tools you need to keep your spirits high on a daily basis.

May you be surrounded by positive influences that support your growth in every area of your life.

May you recognize and utilize the many sources of love and light in your life.

May you receive all the assistance needed on your path of growth.

May you receive all your heart’s desires, surpassing all your expectations, and may it be for the good of all.
