WHO IS CASSENDRE XAVIER?
Cassendre Xavier coined the term "renaissance negresse" in 2002 to describe her work as a musician, mult-genre writer and community cultural arts organizer. A 1st-generation American-born citizen of Haitian & Chinese heritage, she is a Brooklyn, NY native who has made Philadelphia her home since 1990.
Her 6 independently-released albums are described as "a cross between Tracy Chapman, Sade & Enya" (Borders Music Expert, Steven M. Wilson). She also creates spoken word guided meditation and affirmation recordings under the name Amethyste Rah and erotic writing under the name Amrita Waterfalls. The founder and director of the Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series (Est. 2002) as well as Philadelphia's Annual Black Women's Arts Festival (Est. 2003), Cassendre is a recipient of a $15,000 Leeway Transformation Award for her work in art and social change. GREETING
Hi, folks. Not ready to say much right now on a personal level, maybe because I say so much on Facebook, or maybe because I’ve raging cramps and a lot to do before I leave my Main Squeeze’s place here in Nueva Jork, but suffice it to say you’re on my mind, hence my writing to you right now, so hopefully that makes up for it. I trust you are well and I look forward to writing again soon. Meanwhile, do read below at my usual thingies, plus a whole list of what my esteemed associates are occupying themselves with these days. May you be enrichified (aka “enrichicated.”)

I LOVE HAVING MY PERIOD!!
(A funny song about that Time of the Month) Today’s day 1 of a heavy flow-moderate cramps cycle. Yo soy muy allegra! Did you know that dried apricots are awesome for PMS? Apparently it’s the vitamin A content. A few months ago I forgot to eat them and boy did I feel the difference! Also, I’ve been eating a lot of baby carrots, and today I read the vitamin content on a bag I was noshing from and it says they’re crazy high in vitamin A. And then I noticed I had no PMS this month at all. None. Very good stuff, the vitamin A. Take note, ladies. Never let it be said!

On the Rag Again (words by Cassendre Xavier, music by Willie Nelson)
Video link: http://youtu.be/S6wJBYpE9uU

Lyrics:
on the rag again
oh i'm so glad to be on the rag again
some women say that it's a great big drag for them
but i'm so glad to be on the rag again

on the rag again
guess you could say that i'm a bleedin' fan
oh how i love to welcome my sweet monthly friend
i celebrate being on the rag again

on the rag again
like a herd of witches circling round the moon
it's that time again
the PMS and cramps, it all can't come too soon
i think i'm gonna swoon

'cos i'm on the rag again
everyone knows i'm on the rag again
'cos i can't stop myself from saying when i can
that i'm so glad to be on the rag again
so true i'm glad to be on the rag again
yeah this here gal is on the rag again
guess what, you guys, i'm on the rag again
don't hate me 'cos i'm on the rag again
so beautiful to be on the rag again

NEW QUOTES BY CASSENDRE & PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CASSENDRE
I am thinking of a best-case scenario. ~CX
I choose my life to be a blissful tour of imperfection. ~CX

I don’t know how lucky I am, I’m just not stopping. –K.J. Denhert

Your daily life is your temple and your religion. -Kahlil Gibran

Money is my very essence, which when properly expressed, returns to me as an all-sufficiency of legal tender, to be used in exchange for goods and services. -"The Abundance Book" author John Randolph Price, who coined the acronym for M.O.N.E.Y.: "My Own Natural Energy Yield." ‎BECAUSE I LOVE MYSELF, TODAY I DID THE FOLLOWING
1) Quickly released fear thoughts. 2) Relaxed and trusted that all is well and everything's gonna be okay. 3) Called a friend and asked to hang out with him the same day, in an attempt to learn to be more sp- sp- sp- spontaneous. (Sorry, even saying the word's a bit of a challenge :-) 4) Refused to feel guilty about my desires, both acted on an not yet acted on. 5) Exercised discipline. 6) Drank more water. 7) Ate less carbs. 8) Started day with total gratitudational qualities. 8) Went out of my way to make myself more comfortable. 9) Didn't worry. Was happy. 10) Wrote to make myself happy, then spilled the joy outward to whoever wisheth to partake.

THAT WACKY UNIVERSE!
I just chose to turn down an invitation to the opera (only the 2nd opera of my entire life & the 1st as an adult) because it's on the same night of my audition for - you guessed it - an opera! Oh the irony! Ya got me, Universe, u sick sonofabitch, ya got me! (I kid, I joke! :-)

FAREWELL BLESSING
May you continuously be aware of your total, complete, and permanent connection to Source.
May you focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want.
May you dwell on what feels good and quickly release what does not.
May you learn to accept what is.
May you learn to love your shadow.
May you know balance and moderation.
May you do well for, serve, and please yourself, first.
May all your fondest heart’s desires come true, surpassing all your expectations. This, or something better, and may it be for the good of all.
And so We say that it is… now!
