I hope you’re enjoying the weekend so far! I didn’t want to say anything until it was fully, really, totally, and completely done-done-done, so as not to getten zie hopsen up, but I just released my first chapbook since 2005!
Whoo-hoo!!
Mon, Tues, and Wed of last week, I compiled materials for two (2) chapbooks. Thurs night I met with a friend to do the layout, and we finished it just under our 3 hour timeframe.
Friday, I took the thumbdrive to Staples, where they printed a few for me to have that night. And Saturday, I picked up more copies to bring with me at my
Reading with the divine Janet Mason at Big Blue Marble Bookstore, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 3pm! BBM is at 551 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19119, their website is www.BigBlueMarbleBooks.com. The event is FREE, and there will be an open reading to follow!

My chapbook is called “This is What a Millionaire Looks Like: Inspiring Essays” – a Curious BooklingĂ” by Cassendre Xavier. I am very happy with it for various reasons, including the fact that it’s my first full color on white background chapbook cover. I will have copies of “Millionaire” with me at the BBM reading.
Today I spent about 5 hours updating lots of online CX ordering thingies.

In addition to her work as a prolific and recording singer-songwriter-guitarist described as “a cross between Tracy Chapman, Sade & Enya (Steven M. Wilson, Borders Books & Music), “renaissance negresse” Cassendre Xavier is also a visual artist, actress, and a multi-genre writer. Her poems and essays have been described as “snappy” and “redeeming” (Karen Gross, Philadelphia City Paper) and been published in national anthologies including When Falls the Coliseum: A Journal of American Culture Or Lack Thereof (Free Reign Press) and We’Moon: Gaia Rhythms for Womyn (Mother Tongue Ink). She self-published several periodicals and chapbooks and has served as editor of Labyrinth-the Philadelphia Women’s Newspaper, and judge of two poetry contests (Barnes & Noble and Giovanni’s Room Bookstore). As a playwright and director, she produced the 5-castmember play Sex for Survivors, which ran for three days in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. She currently is a columnist for Wisdom Magazine, and
released the print/e-book Expanding Your Capacity for Joy: a Raw Vegan Comfort Book, Sourcebook & Journal.
