ABOUT LYNNE “INNER LIGHT” RABCHUK
Born and raised in the big-small-town that is Philly, Inner Light managed to adopt a worldview that enables her to identify as a human being living on earth. Now, in her thirties (which she considers her second puberty) she is having much more fun being a grown up kid. Inner Light started writing poetry while going through a depression in high school. Though mostly unstudied in the art, she continued practicing her therapeutic craft even after moving beyond that dark period, in order to share her Inner Light with you, with the intention of inspiring hope and thought in others. Check out her newest blog www.pollyannaponderings.tumblr.com or email her at iaminnerlight(at)hotmail.com
ABOUT MALEKA FRUEAN
Maleka Fruean was born in Western Samoa, grew up in New Jersey, and became an adult in Philly. She's a mama, writer, artist, events coordinator, and aspiring activist. She's read her poetry in tea houses, festivals, communal houses, and bookstores all throughout Philadelphia. She recently had her first piece of flash fiction published.
ABOUT THE HOST
Cassendre Xavier coined the term "renaissance negresse" in 2002 to describe her identity as a black female multi-media artist. She is a first generation American born, Brooklyn, NY native of Haitian and Chinese heritage who has worked as a musician, mult-genre writer and community cultural arts organizer in Philadelphia since 1991. Her 6 independently-released musical recordings are described as "a cross between Tracy Chapman, Sade and Enya" (Borders Music Expert, Steven M. Wilson). She also creates spoken word guided meditation and affirmation recordings under the name Amethyste Rah and erotic writing under the name Amrita Waterfalls. The founder and director of the Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series as well as Philadelphia's Annual Black Women's Arts Festival (Est. 2003, www.BWAFphilly.org), Cassendre is a recipient of a Transformation Award from the Leeway Foundation, which funds women and trans artists creating social change.
