FEELINGS AND STUFF
I'm back in ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lansdale clearing out my old room and storage in the backyard shed. There are so many things. I feel so overwhelmed. I moved to NYC on December 31st. Technically, I'm living in Jersey City, NJ – that's where I'm staying with friends for two weeks. I'm a stone's throw away of a bus ride to town (Manhattan). That makes me hot and bothered just thinking about it. My heart is palpitatin', and there's a twitchin' in Moi's nether reggiones. Should I not say that New York City wettens Moi? That wouldst be bad, right?

THE DUCKLING/SWAN/PIECE OF ASS CHRONICLES
I've been remembering a really sweet fling I had with a guy in high school. In years past, I'd been replaying it not unlike the housewife in the movie Brain Candy who recalls her hot discoin' days – occasionally and wistfully thinking back to my "hot" days having flings with "hot" guys. Imagining those times were bittersweet because I was sort of simultaneously thinking they were never gonna happen again. I was unhot and would never shag hot guys again. But now I'm thinking differently. I'm replaying those events in my mind not as if they were in the distant, never-gonna-happen-again past, but I'm planting seeds to prepare for the hotness soon to come. The hotness of Moi, the hotness of them, but most importantly, the hotness of Moi's joi de vivre, as it were.

FRUITARIAN FITNESS AND FOOD
Raw vegan fitness trainer Richard Blackman says that we shouldn't focus on food. We should focus on fun. Lots to think about. Check him oot at www.fruitarianfitness.com.

PRINCE, DEATH, AND SUCCESS
I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't blog anymore. Prince doesn't say much in the press, isn't that available for interviews, and is incredibly prolific, successful, and potent as an artist. Perhaps there's a connection. I'm gonna transcribe this directly from the notes in my journal:
"Thinking about death and Prince, and Prince and death. Mayhap one cannot blog one's way to success. Mayhap there is a reason or a connection between Prince's productivational qualities and genius as an artist – and his notorious non-interviewing self. Saves it all for artmaking. No one dies and blogs about it. It's an endless mystery, death is, and perhaps so is success. Perhaps I'll achieve more if I blog less."

FORMER TARGET: FANNERY (A.K.A. "FANNAGE"), NEW TARGET: RECORD COMPANIES
Blogging is for fans. Not to get a grant (although I believe my ME! ME! ME! Newsletter was instrumental in my getting a $15,000 artist grant in 2005), not to get a publishing deal – blogging is just for fans. (Unless you count the blogging for profit thing.) And it's for enemies, too. My focus and needs have changed. I used to do everything for my fans. But after 16 years of being independent and not satisfactorily so, my needs and goals have changed. Now I want to get signed. So now I have to do what I think a record company wants. There are lots of different kinds of record companies, so I have to find a common denominator and go for that. I believe all record companies seek marketability. Depending on their mission, style, and audience, that marketability can range from a shell of a fine looking person singing factory produced hit songs to billions of teeny-boppers who don't know any better (but I'm not bitter), or it could be a purist classical or jazz label seeking the most accomplished instrumentalists and composers. Either way, they're looking to make sales. So I gotta figure out what kind of record company I want to work with, and give them what they want. In the meantime, I grow my soul and train my mind, because while the group may have changed, I still firmly believe what the song says, "You got to give the people what they want."

I'M NO ANI DIFRANCO (OR MELISSA FERRICK)
These chyks have done very well for themselves independently. I used to think I could do that too. In fact, Ani was, and still is in many ways, my hero. But I've given up trying to do it all myself. We all can attract a "team". Ani's team is friends and fans who now run her Righteous Babe Records company. My future "team" will be whatever comes along with the label. In the meantime, I follow my dream and am in NYC and things are falling into place. I'm naturally developing my own "pre-team". What I desperately wanted in Philly is now happening in NYC. I have a guy who's gonna film and post me on YouTube. I have a stylist. And I haven't even completed my first 2 weeks here! Transcribed from my journal notes: "I'm not Ani Di Franco, or Melissa Ferrick. They have a team. They have crazy gigs. They are successful ON-THEIR-OWN [Righteous Babe Records number is (800) ON-HER-OWN]. I could do that, too, if I went against The Flow and tried to force what seems to be my learning the sexy art of surrendage. I don't know what the help will like, but I know it'll be cute and it will be my fucking hero. My tour buss will not be a van. And maybe I'll have 3 accountants and a whole lot of sheep to count before pre-sleep meditaccione, but hey. Small price to pay for the peace o' mind of not having to run the entire show myself. Again, stuff I should stop talking about and start making happen.

Make yourself a beautiful day!

THE RAGS TO RICHES CHRONICLES
I've been replacing worrisome thoughts of employment and income with feelings and thoughts of success. I'm getting rid of lots of things in ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lansdale. This makes room for more things, or more simplicity in NYC. I'm relying on the help of a former Philly based poet who is now working as a waitress. She's doing exactly what I want to do – wait tables. I'm realizing I need to create a look that attracts interest and conveys creativity – something like I used to do when I worked at various clothing and accessory stores.

FUNNY IS MONEY
I wish I'd recorded it to watch over and over again, but I was watching the E! True Hollywood Story of Rachel Ray and this television producer was on as one of the many people behind the making of this beloved, yet oft-maligned media maven. The producer was captivating to watch, because of what she was saying, and also because her body seemed to be really fit, and she expressed it really well. She had a lot of energy. She was saying that in the beginning of her first meeting with Rachel Ray, Ray's body language was closed. Her arms were crossed, you know the usual. She (Hot Producer Lady) acted this out. But as time went on in the meeting, Ray's arms relaxed, and became animated, as is part of her trademark. I wanted to spend the day with Producer Chyk, to see what she does. I know she works out, she probably does yoga. But what led her to have that position? What's her background? Had she been an actress? She has children – one of the things she said was that her young daughter (age 7 or 8 I think she said) loved to watch Rachel Ray because she liked the top of Rachel's face – meaning her eyes and how her eyes smiled along with her mouth. I love how producers of all kinds glean from so much to inform their work. Weather in television or music, every producer I've ever met takes in from the world all kinds of information that many of us (I mean not Moi, I take in a LOT!) ignore or take for granted – then they make lasting art from it. It's amazing.
Anyway, Hot Producer Chyk said, "and I noticed Rachel was very funny. Well, funny is money." Funny is money she said. Wow. Funny is money.
Here I was completely taking for granted that I'm funny. When I'm funny during a concert, I think I should be more sophisticated. When I'm funny on a date, I'm thinking I should be sexier. I'm always thinking I should be smoother. And funny's not smooth, right?
It's well known that many funny ladies are not conventionally considered hot pieces of ass. Is that a bad thing? Can I cross Whoopi Goldberg with the formerly hot Tyra Banks (you know, before she started talking…and talking…and talking…). I'm taking some risks here people. Going for the politically incorrect chuckle here. As long as your ribcage is movin' and your diaphragm expands, that's all I need! (Just for the record, I love Whoopi, and I think Tyra's adorable and well-intentioned.)
Anyway, I'm not gonna stop the humor anymore? Why? Because I believe Hot Producer Chyk. I think it's gonna make me rich. I'm not giving up my plan to be equally hot, though ;-) And hot is all about commitment. That's right – I'm gonna have to be committed to hotness. More on that either in a future blog or in actualitaccione, as it were. If you will.

Make yourself a beautiful day!

Raw Vegan Buddies & Sponsor/Co-Sponsorship

Greetings, Friends & Fannery (a.k.a. "Fannage"),

I am both seeking and offering raw vegan support mostly by way of voicemail messaging and short weekly phone calls.
I have both received and offered this service before with folks varying in levels or experience of raw-ocity.

I am seeking:

a) Buddies to set mutual raw and fitness goals with. (Please be, or aspire to be 70% or more raw.)
b) One or two sponsors who have been 70% or more raw for "a good while", and I'll leave that to your discretion, minimum 60 days raw. For sponsorship, I would need to be able to leave voicemail messages up to several times a day, which you would NOT be required to return or even listen to completely, but send positive energy to. Yes, I'm serious, and if you're raw, that won't sound too crazy :-) I would also like to have up to 2 (two) 5-minute phone conversations during the week which would be both my reporting my activities and you giving Moi a mini pep talk to continue the good work. There are some good raw forums for folks to do this kind of thing online (one of the best ones being at www.fruitarianfitness.com), but I'm interested in phone and in person only, which brings me to…
c) I'm new to the NYC area and interested in meeting raw active & aspirant folks for activities here (running errands, fitness, social, arts/cultural - preferably non-food related). I have been studying the philosophy of Richard Blackman (of the above link), and am considering the concepts of focusing on fun activities and adding more joy to life, instead of the focus on food preparation and consummation that is such a big part of the majority of raw culture and community. Iffn' you'd like to conversify about this, check out www.fruitarianfitness.com, read up and get back to a sistore. Danke!

I am also offering to be a raw sponsor to someone needing extra support. I am available to receive up to several voicemail messages a day and participate in up to 2 (two) 5-minute phone conversations during the week which would be both you reporting your activities and my giving Vou a mini pep talk to continue the good work.

Being and staying raw takes a lot of effort in a cooked/junk food society, particularly if you have a busy schedule and other issues that make it challenging. I am very laid back about goals and believe that every step brings you closer to you achieving your dreams, even the steps which appear to set you back. If you'd like to pursue this possibility (of raw buddy-ship and/or sponsorship or co-sponsorship), please email me at cxmusic(at)gmail.com or MySpace message me at www.myspace.com/cassendrexavier

I'm not interested in being in front of my computer any more than I already choose to be, so I guess you'd have to either have a phone with voicemail and I don't want to make international calls, although I can receive them, and depending on which you're picking, you may have to be in, or be easily able to get to, the NYC area.

Thank you for your time, and may your colon and other innards be happy with the chlorophyll! (Can you tell I'm missin' my Green Smoothie? Time to go a shoppin' in my new (..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />York) neighborhood, yo!)

Remember, for more raw support, you can always visit the fine folks at www.arnoldsway.com
